ASD is a non-profit, college-preparatory school founded 50 years ago in Dubai. The school is located in Al Barsha and serves students from PreK – Grade 12.  There are over 55 nationalities at ASD and most students hold either an American or Canadian passport. 

The school mission is to "challenge and inspire each student to achieve their dreams and to become a passionate learner prepared to adapt and contribute in a rapidly-changing world."  ASD provides a rigorous curriculum, enriched with a number of learning opportunities based around the arts and technology.  Students have access to a large number of extra-curricular activities.  ASD also maintains a school psychologist, Counseling department and learning support services in addition to a large and supportive school community.

Over 95% of ASD students go on to attend college/university and many include top-tier schools all over the world.  The majority of teachers are from the US and Canada, and the average amount of time they remain at ASD is 4.7 years.
